Currently, the Republic of San Marino has diplomatic and consular relations with over seventy European and non European countries.

San Marino is a member of numerous International Organisations including the United Nations Organisation, the UNESCO, the Council of Europe, the International Monetary Fund, the International Court of justice, the World Health Organisation and the World Tourism Organisation. 

It cooperates with Unicef and the High Commission for Refugees. 

The Republic has official relations with the European Union. It takes part in the Conference on Security and Cooperation in Europe.

From 10th May to 6th November 1990 San Marino beaded the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe.
